About Things to join

Things to join lists groups you can join, city by city, and links each one to a public page about it. Last changed on .

What we list

Clubs and regular meetups a person can join, in these activities: language exchange, board games, Blood on the Clocktower, meetups and social clubs, digital nomads, networking, book clubs, volunteering, art and drawing, crafts, photography, film, music and other hobbies, dance, yoga, meditation, fitness groups, running and walking, football, volleyball, basketball, racket sports (badminton, padel, tennis, table tennis, pickleball and other racket and paddle sports), team sports and dating. Dating events are for adults.

Each group comes from public pages: its own website, a library, a city programme, a directory or a platform such as Meetup. We list facts and a link, never their text or photos, and no group can pay to be listed or placed higher.

A listing is not an endorsement: we do not run, vet or vouch for any group. Meet new people in public places and trust your own judgement.

How we keep it current

A group shows from the day we list it. Our checker then opens its public page about every 30 days, with fixed rules and no person or AI involved, and looks for dated meetings.

  • Active: we saw a dated meeting on its page in the last 60 days, or one coming up.
  • May have stopped: the newest meeting we know of is more than 6 months old.
  • Gone: two failed checks at least 7 days apart, with no successful check between them. A group that is gone leaves every page.
  • On Meetup, the checker only asks whether a group's page still exists. It opens no page on any other platform, Facebook, Instagram and Reddit included.
